Poland´s Prime Minister Wants EU Ban on Abortion

Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Education minister, Roman Giertych, wants the EU constitution to include a ban on abortion. Europe need a serious discussion of the Christian foundation of its morality.

“Abortion needs to be banned immediately.” Giertych told reporters in Heidelberg, Germany, at meeting of European education miniters. Abortion according to Giertych is “a new form of barbarism,” and he warned against the decline of a Christian-based culture.

“A nation which kills its children is a nation without a future. A continent which kills its children will be settled by people who do not kill theirs,” he said.

If Europeans are not careful Europe will be habitated by people who cherish the family: “If we will not use all our power to strengthen the family, then as a continent there is not a future for us. We will be a continent settled by representatives of the Islamic world who care for the family.”

Giertych also attacked what he calls "homosexual propaganda": “Homosexual propaganda must also be limited so children will have the correct view of the family.”

Needless to say the comments has caused fierce debate.

Roman Giertych is leader of Poland's Catholic-nationalist League of Polish Families (LPR).

The fact that Roman Giertych can say such hateful comments about gay people, is what will undoubtedly cripple the future of Europe. There is nothing wrong with being gay, and the sooner people realise this the sooner the world will become a more peaceful place.
Secondly, it is the womans choice whether she wants to keep her fetus. It does not become a baby until it is born. In its earlier stages of development, the mother's physical and mental health take presidence over that of the fetus's. Moreover religious beliefs shouldn't determine our laws. This is because there are many diverse religions, all with equal credability, and the law should not be influenced by any of these. The law should act to give people security and freedom. Nobody is in a position to criticise another persons for having an abortion. Especially those who can't empathise with the mothers situation.
